I was just wanting to start this forum to get the ins and outs of St. Louis and surrounding area churches and worship settings. It seems that any more there is a new church or fellowship popping up on literally every corner. Where do you go, if at all? Is it Sunday's, Saturday's, or midweek? What do you feel is fundamentally important and worth passing down to your children and grandchildren? Is faith important to family?

Remember that this is a informational blog meant to find out what makes up St. Louis' church base and worship settings and this is not meant to tear any one person or faith beliefs down.

Keep Smiling-
Stacy

I go to Living Water. It is pentecostal and has dedicated their sunday eve services to the children. In other words their children's church is the entire sunday night service. My boy just loves it.

We go Sunday morn and night. And Wednesday night.

I was raised in church and truely believe that faith is very important to pass down through the generations.

God is good all the time.

First of all I would just like to say Thank you for this section of the web site!  I just joined today & see so much I can add to but it seems as if I would be here all night!    So I will just have to pace myself!

I have alsways felt that living my life through Christ is the only way to be.  When I got married, things turned differently & it wasnt always on the front of our minds.  Now having 4 kids, raning from 3-16, the world is a very cruel place these days & it has made me realize that following in the word is the ONLY answer.  Unfortunitly I have a husband who seems to fight that same realization at times & therefore I allow him to hold me back.  Now that I have been faced with some "teen issues" I realized that if I dont get into a steady Christ like attitude now, my kids are going to suffer greatly because of it.  It is hard to get older kids/teens to Church for reasons other than socializing.  Therefore the Church I just recently join has played a very significant role is assisting me with my quest.  My kids love the Church & thats the 1st step.  Now, if I can only get them to participate with me in more things I want them to do, I would be a very happy mother!  But, I will just keep praying for them!

I live in Arnold & we go to First Baptist of Arnold.  We just started there back in September & I love it!  We have been out of Church for so long until now.  Now, we live there!  I have 4 kids ranging from 3-16 so there are so many events for them & myself to take part in.

We attend most Sunday mornings which starts off in Sunday School, then Worship services, & then in the evenings, & also Weds nights & then any time there is a special event.

My older 2 kids & I are part of the Youth Performing Arts Group which is called Vindicated, & we practice every Sunday from 4-6.  Here we do special performances for our Church during the Sunday evening service.  Were praying to be able to take our performances outside of just our Church.

They have a WONDERFUL Youth Group called Synergy which has all kinds of events for them.  This is a great way to slowly introduce God into my kids' life without them rebeling against it & thinking  that Im pushing it on them.  You know, teens can be very standoffish when it seems its not what they want.  They have parties for them, get togethers, mission trips, & many other activities.  Its awesome!

So I guess you could say I spend a little time at Church!  I love it though I & wouldnt have it any other way!

Thanks for reading!

Welcome to the forums Melissa! I am so glad you dove in and started getting your feet wet here. Your input is so important too, you never know what you may add that is needed by another mother.
My bio is on here so I wll just restate a few things, as not to bore you (lol) I am a mom to five, age range is 7-15, they were born 2 years apart. My husband and I are licensed ministers and serve in the area of children's minstry. We just recently accepted a position in Rolla, Mo. as their children's minister. I was raised in Arnold and had family that went to FBofA for years. My sister in law did a sunday school class there for years. We are Fox graduates, so we are very familiar with were you are.

I am so happy that you have found a church and a church family that you can grow in.

Thank you Stacy for the warm welcome & most of all, CONGRATS on the new position!  So does this mean your moving or will you just make the commute back & forth?

Jumping right in is something I tend to do a lot without prayer or thought & it isnt always a good thing...  I have been meaning for some time to come check the Moms sites out to help get some interaction with Adults during the day but I always seem to forget by the time I sit at my desk...lol  Yesterday was 1 of those blah feeling kinda days for me so as I sat down, 3 sites came right to mind & Im so glad they did!  Staying home most of the time with my 3 yr old can get pretty boring in a sence that at times you need somewhere to resort back to!  Dont get me wrong, I love styaing home with him, but Im not the stay at home type I guess you could say!  So the Moms sites are a great idea!

Well good luck & congrats again with the new position & keep us updated as to how things are going!  I will see you around on the boards here as I explore all there is to offer!  Speaking of, you wouldnt happen to know of any Mothers Day Programs in my area would you?   I have been in Arnold for a year & 1/2 now & Im really not sure of any.  Which is odd to me, the Church we were at in St. John over by the Airport had one & my lil guy back then loved it, not to mention Mom did too!

Good morning everyone. My home church is Bethesda Evangelical Church located in South County on Lemay Ferry. It is tucked away back into a subdivision in Lemay and some people may find it hard to find. Our church has two morning services, one traditional and one contemporary. During the services child care is offered and Children’s church is being conducted in separate rooms throughout the church. There are many opportunities to learn about Christ at our church. On Wednesday nights our church offer a program called "Pioneers Club" for children Pre-K and up. It's like a scouting group with a Christian outlook. The children just love it. During that time there is also a small group offered for adults to learn about various topics that change throughout the year. These classes are also offered on different days, times, and locations to help benefit everyone. Our church has so much going on, volleyball, soccer, softball, and teen actives. It's really a place that makes me feel at home with family and friends. Check us out.... www.achurch4you.com
The reason I choose this church is because I wanted a place that my children would learn about Christ and would enjoy being at. Bethesda offers so much for our youth and really concentrates on our future leaders and followers of the Lord. Bethesda is a place for our children of tomorrow.

That is awesome Anna that you have a place that is like home to you and that your children love. Being a children's pastor, my focus is all about the kids. Other places that have great programming for kids are

soschurch.tv (Arnold) They use Kidmo and itis a very exciting, relevant curriculum
Arnold Baptist has excellent Teen programming ( never checked out the kids)
Radiant Life in Festus- I was a children's pastor here for 6 years ( we have just left to help a church in Rolla, Mo)
Windsor Baptist in Barnhart is suppose to have an excellent outreach for parents of special needs children
Windsor Crossing out by Spirit of St. Louis airport is also a very cool church with a great children's department.

Any questions

This is the first time I've visited the ST. Louis Mom's group - and being a nana of 6 gr girls and the mom of 2 boys, AND a seeker of truth from teenhood on - I was pleasantly surprised to see such a wonderful group of people on this board!

My walk has been kind of different from most of the posts I see on this board. I'm one of those people that need t know the 'beginning' from the end - so in my early 20's I started searching for 'truth' ... My firstborn arrived in 1974 and so my 'walk' got a little sidetracked, and hten my youngest was born in 75 so - again, more pressing matters pressed to the forefront of my life. But it wasn't long before my quest for truth again started pushing through the layers of 'family life' and I was again searching libraries, listening to tapes, radios, sermons ect ect... My catholic upbringing didn't really allow me in those late 70's and early 80's to ask many questions - as we were always taught from early childhood on that only the priests were qualified to read and understand that mysterious book called the bible. Even after sitting down with my pastor and explaining that I needed to know these answers of who was who in the bible and why did they do such things....I was given a patronizing smile and told to leave that to the clergy...sigh.....off again on my own.

And on my own I did travel. Up and down the rows of the bookstores and libraries searching for something that would make this big book called the bible come together for a young woman with two pre teen boys! Surely there had to be more than just sitting in a pew on Sunday, doing the sitting, standing, kneeling thing and saying Amen. Surely God spoke to more than just priests and nuns!?? Or did He?

Well, my book ramblings said so...such authors that caught my attention were Edgar Cayce (The Sleeping Prophet) and Jeanne Dixon (a CATHOLIC! surely she could be trusted!) and they (among a myriad of others) said that He did speak to regular people! So I devoured everything I could on 'other' things and soon came to believe that I too could hear from the Almighty Himself. Of course, sharing this with my parish priest soon brought a wave of condemnation, and for a short time I fell back in line. But only for a short time, as the quest for truth is a hard flame to beat out!

The rest of my story can be read on my website at http://www.mesharet.org but to pull it all together in this forum, I can say that my journey took me to Israel many times, enabled me to bring speakers from Israel to my local community and offered me a world of possibilities that up to that time I had only dreamed about. My understanding of the Word of YHVH (God), His Son, the Messiah of Israel, and the truth in His word has not only been revealed in such a way as to revolutionize my life, but the lives of my children, my friends and my family. Our discussions don't revolve around dirty diapers, (whether on babies or in politics) but revolve around learning more about His truth. What an exciting place I am in my life - looking back and seeing the journey stretched out behind me like a veil of precious silk with threads of rich experience in each waving fold. Now, at 55, I am watching my oldest son teach about the Truth of the Word of God in his home; my senses are overwhelmed with his exhuberance of teaching what Jesus would REALLY do...from a first century perspective and knowing that my precious legacy of desiring to know the truth will be carried forth in my grandchildren and my great grandchildren.

Our bible studies are more like a home fellowship, they center around studying the scriptures from a hebraic perspective and finding out what God really wants in a relationship. They are open to the public, conveniently held in Wentzville, MO and are usually held on Thursday evenings. We invite you to come and journey with us! Just check out our websites if you want to know more.

Blessings ~ Pam
