If you like truly authentic Mexican food, Agave is the place to go.  My friend and I went for my birthday and were not a bit disappointed.  We liked it so much, I wanted to pass the info on to others.

Agave is located in the Grove Neighborhood (Forest Park Southeast) where a lot of other new restaurants and bars have been popping up in the last few years.  The food is not the typical, cover-it-in-cheese-and-salsa-and-call-it-Mexican.  Everything we ordered had wonderful, rich flavors, none of which were minimized for the local palate (and nothing was hiding under a blanket of cheese). The menu isn't very long (maybe the only downside, as I would love to try even more!), but it seems they usually also have a couple of specials to offer too.  It is not a mom-and-pop joint; the prices are on the high end, but in my opinion, well worth it.  Another plus:  they serve authentic margaritas - none of that sweet and sour mix stuff - and really good tequila. So, if you are looking for a nite out, get babysitter and head over to Agave.
