I have recently discovered the TLC for Kids nanny service and agency here in the st. louis area.  I have been able to make child care arrangements for my son since I am going back to work, but the childcare isn't available until mid June.  So I have been left with trying to find a nanny.  I have submitted my info to them and am waiting to hear back.  I am extremely cautious of nanny services.  Having a stranger come into my home isn't exactly the route I wanted to take.  But It was my only choice.  We don't know anyone here in STL and therefore have no one to make recomendations for nannies.  Has anyone else had a nanny experience they could share or has anyone tried this TLC for Kids nanny service that they could shed some light on?  Would love the input.

Thanks,

Loren

I've had friends use "Kids Play" for short term childcare. I know a gal who used to work for them and they have a nice program, but with all the usual concerns your going to find with a "drop-off" scenario.

Check out the link to see if it's what you are looking for:

If you're looking for a nanny - or an aupair - a good friend of mine (someone who I would really trust her advice) uses http://www.euraupair.com/ - This is an in-home solution and there are living requirements, but she has had a great experience and her kiddos loved their aupair.

I hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Sarah

I used to work for Child Care Solutions, another nanny agency.  I prefer them over TLC but it's all about preference.  I provided baby sitting services for date nights and worked as a nanny for a family full time and loved it.  I know that CCS does extensive background checks on their nannies.  I spent about 3 hours filling out paperwork, talking with the placement coordinators and also had a background and drug test performed.  With all that said, I've found myself in an odd situation where I'm needing a sitter for a date night we have planned the first week in August and I can't bring myself to register with CCS.  I just have a hard time leaving my 8 month old with someone I don't know.  If you decide to call CCS then ask for Beth, she's the coordinator I always dealt with and she is super nice.  Let me know if you have any other questions.
