hi,
i thought it would be fun to start a forum on this topic...raisiing our kids different than we were raised..to share the things we're learning...our ideas, our challenges, favorite books, classes, movies...etc. I'll go first:
My favorite book on loving discipline is actually kind of old...one my mom read while raising me...called Children the Challenge. not as PC a name as maybe "Children the Opportunity"...ha..., but come on, this was the 60's. (i saw used copies on www.amazon.com cheap...and at i've seen it at the library))
My other favorite thing (that i would have loved as a kid) is yoga with our two girls. we goto a class once as week together...but it's more than doing the poses together. for me it's working on being in the present moment with them in the way i am being "mom". esp when we are running late for something...aughhh....so hard for me to stay "present" then...but i'm working on it.
i started a little yogakids video, free from the library called YOGAKIDS. they loved that as early as age 2. my friend Michalea Turner started a class called YOGIPARENTING that teaches this whiole idea of loving kids in a present mind sort of way. www.yogiparenting.com
how about everyone else? what do you LOVE? what helps you parent the way you are hoping to parent...not just the way you WERE parented???
