I couldn't figure out what section to post this in, so I ended up here out of default.  I'm new to this site and came here hoping you all could help me know what to do with a problem.  I have a Baptism gown that both my father and I were Baptised in.  Unfortunately, my mother didn't store it well (it was in a hot attic) and the gown has yellowed.  I would really like to use it for my son, but don't know how to get it clean.  I'm afraid to attempt to clean it myself (for fear I would make it worse or irrepairable for a professional), but I don't just want to take it to the corner cleaners for fear they'd ruin it too.

Does anyone have any good advice about what to do?  Know any good garment restorers?  Have an idea about cost?  I appreciate any advice

I made the baptism gowns for each of my kiddos in hopes that they too would pass them on to their kids - so I was very excited to hear that you have that tradition in your family!!!!

When I was married, I had my wedding gown cleaned and preserved. I took it to "American Cleaners" but the gal there said that they actually send it off to a specialty service that does the preservation. You might look into finding a company that specializes in they type of preservation - most likey they will have the skills to restore the garment!

Good Luck!

Sincerely,
Sarah
