Your kids can sure surprise you can't they? So far my 3-year-old has not shown too much interest in his 7-month-old baby brother. But the other night (early morning actually), he crawled into bed with my husband and me and as he was lying there, we heard the baby cry out over the monitor. My 3-year-old asked, "Is that Tycen?" I sleepily said yes, but neither my husband or I jumped up right away because he sometimes will just make noises in his sleep. When he cried out again, the older one sat up and said in a genuinely distressed tone, "Baby Tycen needs help!" My husband got up with the baby and I just gave the older one a big hug and kiss. I guess I knew deep down he did care about his baby brother, but it was nice to see evidence of it!

Hey Liz -- Isn't it the best when the older sibling shows such love for the younger one. It is the best. Last week the kids we watching tv and Jacob laid his head on Emma's shoulder. Too sweet.
I noticed that boys are so different than girls with babies. When I had Jacob and went to our first playgroup, all the girls in playgroup talked to him, played with him, etc. The boys didn't even seem to notice he was there. It is so interesting.

My boys play like crazy together, but they don't usually show actual love toward eachother. My oldest is kind of hard to get close to and I think that is what the youngest is challenged by. I know they love eachother, but at 3 and 6 they just don't know it yet.
