Is there ANYTHING that we use on a daily basis that isn't "Made in China"?? With all the recent Lead scares and toy recalls, I am beginning to think twice about every toy that I consider purchasing for my kiddos.

I've recently found myself in a state of vigilance and I am noticing that almost everything I use on a daily basis IS made in China or some other foreign production facility. That fact has me feeling more and more insecure about the status of our American economy.

Does anyone else out there sense that we may be as dependant on China (or any other foreign outsourced production empire) as we are on the middle east for oil?  Does it seem like too much is outsourced? I recognize that there is a balance to be maintained for free trade, and that because production is outsourced, goods are in turn cheaper to purchase and more readily available to average consumers.

But, as a mom, as a consumer and as an American I am wondering what I can do to feel more secure? Anyone want to share any thoughts?

Sincerely,
Sarah

I am feeling the same pressures.  Since when do children need to be protected from their toys?  I heard on t.v. that now Vietnam is competing with China for the outsourced jobs because they can work even cheaper!  What kind of price can we attach to our children's health and well being?  In addition, how are they making (and ensuring the safety of) quality products at a lesser cost than China???  Best wishes and God bless!
