I haven't written in a while. We are busy with a move and just about to head away to camp for the month of July. We go the week after the Fourth.

Around our house we have some wild neighbors and they have been doing fireworks for the last week and a half. I have quite a few questions for you all to chime in on.

1.Should there be or is there an age requirement for buying fireworks? I am asking in respect to the unsupervised kiddos that have daily access to them.
2. Seriously how early should we start with them? (Jefferson County here)
3. Do you think that most holidays including this one has lost its originally meaning?
4. What do you do on the Fourth? (BBQ, Fireworks, Fair STL, etc.)

Final question, which ones of you go all out for this holiday? You do it up with the food, the colors, tableware, red white and blue desserts? Come on you can brag- I love hearing how people spend the holidays.

We're going to Fair Saint Louis downtown.  They have free kids activities all day in the K-Town Kids Zone. The Magic House and other non-profits are there with hands-on activities, there are inflatable bouncy things and an arcade, and they have kids entertainment on a special kids stage. For older kids Drake Bell of "Drake and Josh" is performing at 1.

Our kids are younger so we'll head down for the Parade at 10, then walk over for activities and lunch, and head home for nap but you can make a day of it straight through to the fireworks.

The event this year is in the Soldier's Memorial area around Tucker and Market.  There's more on their website at www.CelebrateStLouis.org
