The answer's different for every family, if not every kid.  My neighborhood association is hosting this meeting to give families a chance to hear about/compare the options.

The Tower Grove South Block Captains Steering Committee and Association is hosting an “Educational Options in the City" meeting, October 27, 7 p.m. at the Grand Oak Hill Community Center, 4168 Juniata, St. Louis MO 63116.

The purpose of the gathering in October is to allow an array of the city's entities who support public, private, charter and magnet education to inform parents and help differentiate themselves.  We hope that at the end of the meeting parents and community members will be better informed and better prepared when selecting the proper course for their children.

As of right now, the agenda is as follows with the following speakers (in speaking order):

Mayor Francis Slay-  Mayor, City of St. Louis
Robbyn Wahby-  Special Assistant to the Mayor for Education and Children's Policy
Tom Hoerr-  New City School
Mike Malone-  St. Louis Representative from the MO Public Charter School Association
Jama Dodson-  St. Louis For Kids
Sharon Gerken-  Today and Tomorrow Foundation
Alan Winklemann/Denny Bram-  St. Louis Catholic Schools Representative
Maggie Baisch-  Director of Admission, Crossroads College Prep
Rhonda Broussard-  Founder, St. Louis Language Immersion Schools
