From the time I was twelve years old, I knew my life would always involve kids. I babysat, taught swimming lessons, worked in after-school programs, and was a camp counselor for years.  When finally faced with career options at The College of William and Mary, I found myself drawn to helping kids through medicine.  I became an EMT and volunteered in the local hospital and urgent care clinic.  I graduated with a degree in biology and went on to attend Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. 

I knew from the very first day of medical school that I would become a pediatrician.  After completing my residency at Vanderbilt, I moved to Charleston, SC to start my first job.  I had received a full scholarship form the United States Navy through the Health Professions Scholarship Program and served four years as an active duty Lt. Commander pediatrician.

As my career began to blossom, I also found the love of my life. Justin Terrill and I met a Vanderbilt and married in 2002.   Shortly thereafter, we started our family.  We have two little boys, Jackson (now 4) and Cooper (now 2).  My boys have taught me so much about not only being a good mom and a good person, but also have helped me be a much better pediatrician!  In the midst of learning how to balance a busy family and a busy work schedule, we decided to move to St. Louis.

People often ask how we decided upon St. Louis for our new home.  Although no one in our family is from St. Louis, my parents have retired to the Lake of the Ozarks and my in-laws live in Lafayette Square.  We really wanted our kids to know their grandparents.  It is wonderful to have our family involved in our every day lives.

Since moving, everything has just fallen into place and we are happier than ever.  I was fortunate enough to find a practice that would allow me to work part-time.  I have a wonderful balance of work and family.  I am always surrounded by kids, as I knew I would be.
