Shapewear as lingerie: Too good to be true?
Starting in the sixteenth century, many women in the Western world were bound by corsets, girdles and other confining shapewear. Compared to past centuries, modern shapewear is positively freeing. But modern shapewear is still pretty uncomfortable. Wearing a restrictive body suit with digging elastic edges is painful and unsexy. The new generation of shapewear is attempting to provide slimming support in a garment that is as attractive and comfortable as lingerie. The Hipster is a full-brief panty with a non-binding waistband and laser cut edges to prevent panty lines.
