Another lane has been closed now for emergency repairs to Interstate 70 over the Blanchette Bridge. Two lanes closed Friday after an expansion joint broke and damaged the lanes. A third lane is now closed as a repair team fixes that joint. It's part of a large steel plate system that runs the length of the bridge. Investigators suspect the joint may have expanded and risen slightly above pavement level. A large truck may have hit it and flipped it up into the roadway causing problems for drivers.

Workers spent Saturday fabricating the new piece.

MoDOT District Engineer Ed Hassinger says, "We've been working through the night and all day today it's a big one and a half inch steel plate that covers up the area where the bridge expands and contract with the temp that came loose and we are getting a new piece fabricated as we speak and we are going to get that put in hopefully tomorrow and have it open by Monday."
