He was paralyzed in the line of duty and on Wednesday night Rock Hill officers honored Matt Crosby for his service and try to help with his recovery. Matt Crosby received the Purple Heart and the Medal of Valor for his heroic efforts on an April night that changed his life forever. It was one standing ovation after another as Matt and ten of his colleagues were all honored for their bravery and courage. Crosby and co-workers responded to a domestic dispute call on April 8th in Rock Hill. The suspect fired two shots at officers.

One bullet grazed Crosby's head, the other pierced his spine. But Crosby and his colleagues returned fire and arrested the suspect.

Their actions were honored as Matt smiled from his wheelchair. He is paralyzed from the waist down and still in physical therapy. His proud parents sat by his side with his three sons nearby. Matt's mother says his spirits are high and he keeps everyone upbeat about the circumstances. Virginia Crosby said, "His spirits are really good he works hard in rehab and he's always joking around and cheering everyone up. It means the world to me that he is being honored and everyone recognizes the sacrifice he's made."
