ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI-FOX2Now.com)—
Wednesday evening's Rush hour is set to be even slower after parts of I-70 should be shut down as the secret service shuttles the president across the metro area. The President will go from Lambert to St. Charles then to downtown St. Louis. This will all happen during the busiest traffic time of the day.Wednesday afternoon Lambert airport will be even less busy as right about 3:30 there will only be one flight allowed in and it wont be a blue and orange 737 either.
We know that President Obama is coming, and cabbie Mike Mahoney knows his wait for a fare will be even longer as air traffic shuts down until Air Force One touches down. "For everybody time is money", he says. "He may be taking a little pay cut not only because a slowdown at the terminal but out on the interstate as well. We had it a few years ago and it affects 10 minutes and everything cleared up and nothing else."
Except there will be something else, a brief shutdown to get to St. Charles for a speech and another one to get downtown for a fundraiser and then another one to get back to Lambert most of it during rush hour.
"10-15-20 minutes whatever it requires we will take it in stride", says Mahoney.
"It is a big deal", says Carolyn Bush "who wont be worrying about traffic Wednesday afternoon, the realtor wont be at work because shell be sitting on her porch watching the President arrive across the street at St. Charles High. Ill just sit out here and watch all the action, and there has been plenty of it since Sunday. All around the High School, men in sunglasses and suits, satellite trucks and plenty of setting up. Her street will be off limits but her porch should be plenty popular. "
After the speech at about 5PM, the Presidential Motorcade will travel back across I-70 to downtown St. Louis for a fundraiser for Senator Claire McCaskill, then back on I-70 to Lambert where it will be wheels up towards Washington.
